On the first Saturday of March each year, the Iditarod Dog Sled race begins in Alaska. This race has teams of dog mushers racing thousands of miles from Anchorage to Nome to commemorate the 1,000+ miles run by dog mushers and their dog sled teams in the year 1925 to deliver a cure to the children of Nome for the horrible disease known as diphtheria. Dog sled teams were the only way to get the antitoxin serum to the kids. Today, mushers pay tribute to this historic event by running the Iditarod Dog Sled race. This year, a musher by the name of Nicolas Petit is running the Iditarod again. As you can see from his name, he is French. For dix tickets, I want you to tell me the name of the French region where he grew up. You can access the Iditarod site by clicking here -- www.iditarod.com. Bonne chance! Ciao!
