Salut! Félicitations go out to students who discovered some delicious French cheeses -- Brie, Camembert, Chèvre, Roquefort -- just to name a few. Bravo!
French Club - There is no meeting this week. Please make sure that you have voted for officers. You can drop by at any time to take care of this. At the next meeting, we will be finalizing our tee-shirt design and color scheme for the year. I look forward to seeing you then!
Français 1 - We are working on telling time, family and pets, and regular verbs this week. There will be a short assessment on telling time this week. There will also be a Muzzy episode and some Roman-Photo work. We will also have numerous communicative activities.
Français 2 - We will be finalizing the Google Voice Hotel reservation project, working on house vocabulary and le passé composé this week. There will be an assessment over le passé composé on vendredi (Friday). We will also begin work on the <<Maison de mes rêves>> project. There will be some Roman-Photo work this week and some listening and communicative activities.
Le premier novembre (the 1st of November) is <<Le jour de la Toussaint>> (All Saint's Day) in which government offices and schools are closed in France! While it is a day to remember "all saints" in the Catholic church, it is also a day to visit cemeteries and pay tribute to family members who have passed away. It is customary to place candles and chrysanthemums on the graves of family members.
One of the most famous cemeteries in Paris is Père Lachaise. Check out some of the pictures above. For this week's challenge question, I will award you cinq euros if you can tell me any famous person who is buried at Père Lachaise. You can start researching by clicking here -- www.pere-lachaise.com. Bonne chance! Ciao!
