French Club - A big shout out to all who helped out at the Cultural Arts Festival last Friday. I really appreciated your assistance. It was a great time! Our next meeting is mardi le 14 novembre (Tuesday, November 14). First, come down to my room for a few announcements. We will then go down to room 414 to work with the Spanish Club to create our holiday bags for senior citizens. I hope to see you there!
Français 2 - We are working on l'imparfait, the verbs savoir et connaître and gastronomy vocabulary and rooms of a house and chores vocabulary. We will do some communicative activities and listening activities this week along with the Roman-Photo. We will be starting the planning for our Top Chef! project this week. Tutoring this week will take place on Wednesday and Thursday since there is a French Club meeting on Tuesday. The tutoring buses will run on Thursday only. As we look forward to our Thanksgiving Break next week, I wanted to address le jour de l'action de grâce (Thanksgiving Day) in Canada as this week's challenge question. There are quite a few similarities between our two countries -- celebration of the harvest and other blessings of the past year. In 1863, during the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day would be held in November. In 1941, the American Thanksgiving was officially designated to be held on the fourth Thursday in November. How does this compare in Canada? When is Thanksgiving Day for our neighbors to the north au Canada? I will award cinq tickets to anyone with the correct day and date! Bonne chance! Ciao!
