Salut! The response to my last blog challenge question was World War I. This was the war that ended on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in the year 1918 marking the date for our current Veterans Day. A shout out to those who answered!
It was great to see everyone back at the 'Brook today! I hope that your Thanksgiving break is fantastique! I hope that you will get to relax with your family and friends! We have four weeks left in this semester! We can do it!
French Club - Félicitations go out to the following officers elected for this year's French Club -- Alan B. - President, Ariel M. - Vice President, Louis A. - Secretary and Judith M. - Historian. A big merci goes out to all who ran for an office this year. There is no French Club this week. Our next meeting will be jeudi le 5 décembre (Thursday, December 5th) to celebrate St. Nicholas Day. We will be having clementines and chocolate. We will be voting for our tee-shirt design and colors.
Français 1 - This week, we are working with regular verbs and the irregular verbs avoir and être. We will also examine possessive adjectives and continue work on family and pets. We will also add vocabulary for foods and drinks. This week the family project is due, and we will have an assessment over time.
Français 2 - This week, we are working with the verbs savoir and connaître. There will be a short assessment over these two verbs. We are also working with l'imparfait and food vocabulary. If you did not turn in the project entitled <<La maison de mes/nos rêves,>> please make sure that you do so ASAP. We are also heading into Top Chef! at the 'Brook season. Be thinking about a partner or small group that you would like to work with for this project.
For this week's challenge question, I want you to think about Thanksgiving. This holiday is not celebrated in France, but it is celebrated in Canada as <<le jour de l'action de grâce(s).>> While there are many similarities to our American Thanksgiving, there is one major difference -- the date of Canadian Thanksgiving is not the same. I will award you with cinq tickets if you can tell me the day of the week and the date of Canadian Thanksgiving. I will award an additional cinq tickets if you can tell me the exact date in 2019 for this Canadian holiday. Bonne chance! Ciao!
