Salut! I hope that you enjoyed your holiday on Monday. I know I did!
French Club - We will be meeting next week at 3:35 in the usual location. Please try to bring any gift wrap, tape and toiletry items for the United Way Shoebox Project. We will explain this service project next week. We originally hoped to meet this week, but I have a meeting at 3:31 and Mme Stubbs is out that day. So we will have to bump it to next week. Je regrette!
Français 1 - We are working on numbers, days of the week and months of the year for formulating the date. We are closing out our first introductory conversations. We will also be working on nouns, gender and articles. This week, there will be a small quiz over numbers from 0-20. We will distribute and discuss the course syllabus. I will show you some websites that you can use to practice with your French vocabulary -- numbers, days, months , etc. Français Extra is the first one. It has some games such as Teacher Invaders, Hoopshoot and Penalty Shootout. You can click here to access it -- www.francaisextra.com. Select the game you want and then the topic. The second one is Languages Online from Australia. You can click here to access it -- www.education.vic.gov.au/languagesonline/french/french.htm. Select the desired topic and then choose the game/activity from the Interactive Tasks listed on the left side.
Français 2 - We are continuing to review all things French 1. We are working on verbs, verbs, verbs and subject pronouns. We have looked at at numbers, la date, le temps, les saisons. We will be examining vocabulaire from French 1 and continuing to read the saga of Marc et Julie. There will be a large review exam at the end of this unit. We watched <<Les choristes>> last week. Please make sure that I got your ivory paper with quinze (15) responses of your choice. You too can use the websites mentioned above to review and practice the French 1 basics.
Blog Challenge - This week, I am kicking off my Blog Challenge. Every week, there will be a new question to answer for tickets and/or prizes. When you find your answer, keep it quiet. No sharing answers! Everybody does his/her own work! You can give me the answer during class or e-mail me your answer. This past weekend ended the 42nd edition of the Dakar Rally. I watched it on NBCSN every day until the end. This race was the idea of Thierry Sabine from France. It started in 1978 and went from Paris, France to Dakar, Sénégal. In this race, you see motorcycles, cars, trucks, and quads racing through some very serious terrain over multiple days to reach the finish. This year's race was held entirely in Saudi Arabia. Also, for the first time in history, American drivers performed very well in the motorcycle and side-by-side classes. You can learn about it by visiting the website -- www.dakar.com. For this week's challenge question, I want to know the name of the 3rd place winner in the car category. He happens to be French. There will be cinq tickets in it for you. Bonne chance! Ciao!
